A cold fresh water species farm established in 1948 for culture of Rainbow trout is located at about 180km East of Nairobi. The farm famous for the Queen of England’s visits is in Nyeri County on the western slopes of Mt. Kenya and neighbors Sagana State Lodge. Trout is grown in circular metallic and rectangular concrete raceways supplied with adequate fresh water from Sagana River right by the Station.

The farm's objectives are: -
- Demonstration of cold water aquaculture
- Production of both fingerlings for stocking trout rivers and supply to trout farmers
- Provision of extension services to trout farmers and
- Conduct research and tests on cold water aquaculture
